• Java Runtime Environment(JRE) 1.5 or later, if you want to generate java prototype from COOPN, you should have JDK 1.5 or later on your machine, the JAVA_HOME envrionment variable should point to your JDK’s home. The prototype generator uses the library JAVA_HOME/lib/tools.jar to compile generated Java codes.
  • CoopnBuilder is a pure Java application, it has been tested on Windows, Linux, Sun and MacOS X.


You will get a file named “coopn-installer.jar”.

  • Install it on your machine

In most desktop environment, double-click “coopn-install.jar” will start the installation process. If this does not work, type:
java -jar coopn-install.jar

in your console, under the same directory of the file.
When the installation program ask the destination path to install, it’s better to give a path without space, like “c:\coopn” or “/usr/local/coopn”, a path name with space like “c:\program files\coopn” is not recommanded and sometimes can cause problems.


  • Write your COOPN program
  • Use ADT evaluation
  • Generate and compile java prototype
  • Simulation
